JOELLE M. BLOCKMON
Joelle M. Blockmon’s journey as CEO/Co-Owner of For the People Financial Services & Tax Preparation is a testimonial of faith and perseverance. Her story, while mired in humility is rich with accomplishment. Growing up in the urban core, Joelle has always believed education was the best opportunity to rise above dismal socioeconomic circumstances. Before entering the field of finance Joelle affirmed her commitment to education by equipping herself with an AA in Accounting, BBA in Finance, MSA in Human Performance while currently working on a DBA in Leadership and Management. Establishing the brand For the People FSTP in March 2021 is a culmination of her 15 years of tax preparation and financial advisement experience as well as a desire to help businesses and families avoid financial pitfalls while realizing financial independence and security. Joelle’s passion and vision for the company is a “one stop shop” option for small business and aspiring entrepreneurs. Joelle appreciates her journey and is proud of all she has accomplished. Her experience and extensive background in student financial aid deems her an expert authority and inspired her to develop a college student guidance component of the company that satisfies her affinity for assisting others by helping them maximize their post-secondary opportunities at minimal cost. “Balance is essential to maintaining quality in life and work.” Faith, ministry and appeasing her artistic nature keeps Joelle centered and focused on the future. MARCUS L. BLOCKMON
Marcus L Blockmon began his journey as COO/ Co-Owner of For the People Financial Services & Tax Preparation in 1992. At a time when “e-filing” was in its infant stages Mr. Blockmon took a special interest in the income tax system and thoroughly educated himself on tax laws, codes and forms. His mastery of tax preparation led to an introductory position with the Internal Revenue Service and over 25 years of employment as a senior tax preparer, tax office manager and tax course instructor for major tax preparation franchises throughout the Midwest. In March of 2021, his experience and vast knowledge of income tax and finance paved the way for him to establish his own brand where he currently serves as co-owner/operator of the upstart For the People Financial Services & Tax Preparation, a company that believes “Successful business is built by hard work, and a network of strong relationships.” For the People FSTP prides itself on personal service with a professional distance and Mr. Blockmon reinforces these values by personally connecting with clientele and offering services that go above and beyond the industry norm. Coming from humble beginnings in a community decimated by the ill effects of poverty, Mr. Blockmon, an avid sports enthusiast has been a staple of his community and has had a positive impact on hundreds of young men, women and families via a nonprofit youth sports organization that he co-founded, operated and coached for 27 years. Also, an ordained minister, he serves on ministry executive boards and asserts his faith as the foundation of his personal and professional life. As COO of For the People Financial Services & Tax Preparation, Mr. Blockmon declares, “The four tenets of our business are FAITH, FINANCE, FAMILY & FUTURE.”
